Sheep guard the tanks

I always thought there were interesting visual juxtapositions in Iceland. I never actually found out if these are water or fuel tanks, but it was funny to see the iconic Icelandic sheep keeping watch over me as I photographed the tanks.

The ring road shone in gold

There is one major two lane highway all around Iceland –the Ring Road. This shot was taken in the extreme North of Iceland with a 600mm supertele of a lonely car making its way around the mountains at sunrise – at 2am!

Warning sentinel

An odd, almost robotic looking concrete and steel marker warns drivers and walkers alike that there is a blind cliff just behind it that drops into the harbor below. The other side of the Reykjavík bay can be seen in the distance with its suburban housing dotting the landscape.

Lenticular UFOs

While I totally botched the exposure on these frames, I found this pair of lenticular clouds floating above us in a fjord in northern Iceland almost eerie – as if they were UFOs. They apppeared and disappeared in a matter of minutes.

Meteor crater at Kerið

This crater was created thousands of years ago at Kerið. My friend Stefan Águstsson is setting up our first attempt at a Quicktime VR panoramic movie.
